On Sunday mum and I went into Louis Vuitton, George Street to have a look at the bags and make some selections. While she deliberated a bit, I was pretty certain of what I wanted already. I’ve had my eye on a bag in Damier Azur for a while and the shape of the Noé really appeals to me because it’s young and summery and quite large. Because he thinks he is hilarious, my dad asked me why I “chose a beach bag”  and I suppose he is quite right – the opening is fairly clumsy and doesn’t look ideal for travelling. Luckily it sits right under my arm so I can keep it closed for when I’m in a crowd or on public transport.

Finally, I was really impressed with the price, this one was $1290 which I think is really reasonable for the size.

Sadly, because the Damier Azur print is quite Summery I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. I have lots of plans for outfits – all summer ones – so I can’t wait to get into the Northern Hemisphere and test it out!

Today’s contents are pretty basic as it was just shopping and lunch with mum.

Bag – Chanel jumbo classic in caviar with gold hardware. A classic that everyone should own

Hair elastic – because it’s so damn windy today. I like these generic ones that have no metal so they don’t snag.

Lipgloss – Jane Iredale PureGloss in Raspberry. It is super moisturising and the colour is neutral and pretty. My lips have been so dry lately and this fixes them.

Tissues – I have the worst sinuses of all time so I can never be without tissues. I love these cute slim wallet packs in different patterns and colours to fashionably match your outfit. Denim goes with everything, right?

Wallet – I have had this Louis Vuitton zippy damier one for 5 years and it’s still in perfect condition. It pays to buy quality.

Bus ticket – force of habit from my weekdays. Gotta love public transport!

Uni is absolutely killing me this semester. I’m not sure how I managed 4 subjects and full-time work last year but it’s nowhere near as easy this time ’round. This time in two weeks, though, I’ll be free and counting down the days until my Paris/London trip….not that I’m not counting already.

27 days until I leave and I could not be more excited! About a dozen Michelin Stars worth of restaurants have been booked, sporting events, high teas, day trips, shopping (of course) and so much more! Hopefully I will have access to the internet over there so I can keep everyone up-to-date on Twitter, but otherwise you can look forward to A LOT of blog posts on my return.

I’m off duty free shopping this weekend and I have a new Louis Vuitton bag in my sights so I will post pics of the new baby when she’s in my hot little hands! I think I’ll leave the shopping there and wait until I’m in Europe where everything’s a little more unique and designer goods are (generally) cheaper. I’m so excited to be swanning around in Summer clothes. Normally I love Winter but I’m just not into it this year.

In the recent weeks I have upgraded to an iPhone (remember my angst over the NokiaE72 I was using? Yep. She’s gone. So now I have instagram (username: MarloPerry) which I’m getting used to and loving.

Lately I have been getting heaps of hits from a Facebook page and a lot of new comments and subscribers. I’m not complaining – but I can’t work out which Facebook page they’re all coming from? If you’ve put a link to my blog on your page – thank you! It was obviously a positive one because all the new comments have been nice ones. If it was a negative one, well ner ner, it backfired.

After closing Australian Fashion Week in 2011 to rave reviews, Bowie was back with a soft and ultra feminine collection, Aura.

Predominantly white, the highest layer of an aura, the range of dresses were a future bride’s delight. Boleros of butterflies, tulle mermaid tails and metallic tinkling breast plates were all features on the strong yet subtle designs. Where we have seen unusual cuts and voluminous ruffles in the past with Bowie, we saw soft lines and an obvious direction.

Among the softness stood a few more classic looks. Hooped, glittering gowns with lots of movement and floor length shows toppers in timeless silhouettes. I particularly loved the black and white lace with the perfectly cinched waist for the female form.

The makeup was fresh and dewy and the hair, designed by Kevin Murphy himself in his only show at Fashion Week, was a modern take on the finger wave of the 20′s which was fitting given the strong yet feminine spirit of the show.

The girls sparkled with Asyana tans to match the metallic accents of the collection.

With last year’s success and another collection of stunning dresses, I see another huge year for Bowie.

I have been collecting headbands for years now with a tendency to lean towards designer ones, purely because they last very well.

Miu Miu make my favourite headbands, splitting their stock between pretty and edgy. I love the way they are thick, statement bands and how they always seem to fit my head perfectly. The price isn’t so nice (usually around $300) but I don’t wear a lot of jewellery so it evens out.

I also have a fair few Alannah Hill headbands because they are very well priced for their quality and design and are usually very OTT which suits my personality. I store hers (and a few others) on a three-tier cake stand. It makes for easy spotting and my earrings hang from the filigree detail on the sides.

I also hang them from some paintings in my room.

On another painting I have my infamous giant bow headband as well as one in denim I made to perform in at the Firm’s Jeans For Gene’s Day fundraising event last year.

Also in my collection is a leather bow band from Oroton. I wish I had bought it in more colours at the time because I don’t think they do headbands now and it was only about $60.

These Dior ones are gorgeous but are yet to be worn. I think the yellow and grey one will look great with the Louis Vuitton bag in Damier Azur I plan on buying before I go overseas (in 48 days!!!) and the velvet one could look stunning with the right dress for the races.

I also own a lot of clips and adornments. They reside all over my room depending on how delicate they are and how often they get worn but they mostly hang on my curtain.

I often wonder what will happen when I am a older and can’t get away with headbands anymore. I will probably wear turbans when I am an old lady, but what to do in my 40s? Hhmmmm.

Starting today and running until May 1 at Pier 2, Wool Modern showcases the best pieces of art and fashion crafted from Australia’s favourite fibre.

This year, alongside pieces from Vivienne Westwood (my fashion queen), Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix and Lanvin, Australian designers have joined the exhibition curated by Charlotte Lurot. Some of the talents invited to join the ranks of these masters are Emma Elizabeth, Camilla and Marc and Tina Kalivas.

My personal favourite was a stunning cream dress by Camilla and Marc. I tweeted that I would get married in this dress and I truly would. Wool is cool in Summer and warm in Winter so it’s not a bad option

I also loved the installation ‘Died in the Wool’ by Not Tom – the colours were just breathtaking.

The exhibition is free and most definitely worth a trip to Walsh Bay. It is not often we get to see such beautiful craftsmanship displayed in Australia, and pieces from the likes of Jenny Kee and Gorman will get you inspired for Winter.

One thing I won’t be going to is the Olympics. They start about 3 weeks after I get back and, while I wanted to stay, it just wasn’t going to work. Everything, even three weeks before, is SOOOOO much more expensive than going at a “normal” time and that’s if you can even find accommodation. That doesn’t mean I can’t get into it and breathe in the hype, though.

A couple of things Olympics related have already put me in the mood. If you can’t be in London, you can at least cheer on from home. The Ice Watch World collection is perfect for representing your home land in style. Although I’m Aussie, I’m loving the UK one. The stark white with the Union Jack is really fresh.

Even though I won’t be at the Games, I am praying that I will be able to pick up the Vivienne Westwood Olympics tee. I love how she’s used her famous orb logo to recreate the Olympic rings. The perfect souvenir for the girl or guy (it’s actually a men’s tee) who hates typical souvenirs.

Yesterday my good friend Angie took me to “Australia’s biggest urban music festival”, Supafest. We kind of went on a whim, so I had very few expectations. Those who know me well know how much I love hip-hop and r’n'b so I wasn’t too fussed about who we watched – everyone is good. Everyone except Chris Brown of course. I can’t stand that little prick and I refuse to support him. The amount of teenage girls wearing ‘I (heart) Chris’ and ‘#TeamBreezy’ t-shirts was actually quite alarming, as is the number of people that believe he is a changed man. Firstly, MEN don’t hit women and, secondly, you can’t change if you don’t even show remorse in the first place. URGH.

I was happy when Angie said she wanted to leave before he came on stage and we decided to beat the crowds and head home. On our way to the station, lights of the neighbouring  Easter Show sucked us in. Being after 8pm, we managed to go in for free and spent the next hour literally running around looking at things. Most of our time was spent in the showbag pavillion where I got the Barbie Teen bag. Slippers with poodles on them? Yes please! I am really quite impressed with the bag; nail file, nail foils, lip gloss, makeup bag and jewellery roll – actually all useful!

I was a bit of a fan of my makeup yesterday so I thought I’d share with you. I think bronze and brown eyeshadow is really flattering on almost everyone  and it makes me feel healthy and glowy.
